Start with your hospital's own list

Check what your hospital provides and what you need to bring. Organise items for labour, your stay and the journey home separately. Show your birth partner where essential items are. Discuss medicines and medical equipment with staff; do not change treatment yourself.

Choose clothing for the weather and plan a safe journey home. If travelling by car, prepare a suitable car seat and check the fitting and harness instructions. This checklist does not replace manufacturer instructions or advice from hospital staff.
